The angiogenic contributions of endothelial and circulating progenitor cells in transplant arteriosclerosis.

This article provides evidence that endothelial cells in arteriosclerotic allografts are derived from circulating progenitor cells, and that bone marrow–derived progenitors are responsible for angiogenesis of the allograft, i.e. the formation of microvessels in transplant arteriosclerosis.
