Bone marrow-derived stem cells for heart repair and treatment of chronic conditions.

Adult stem cells derived from bone marrow are being used to treat heart patients in the UAE. The cells are injected into areas of injury for post-surgery repair, and the treatment is also being used when surgery is not an option, as in cases of heart damage due to diabetes. The therapy is also under focus for treating chronic and vascular conditions, from diabetic neuropathy and peripheral vascular disease to pressure ulcers and diabetic foot.
