Curcumin’s pharmacological effects and future potential.

This review discusses curcumin’s pharmacological effects, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiproliferative and antiangiogenic activities. It also details the issue of curcumin’s absorption rate, and the different studies done on its therapeutic efficacy in battling various human diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, arthritis, neurological diseases and Crohnʼs disease. The conclusion is: “Enhanced bioavailability of curcumin in the near future is likely to bring this promising natural product to the forefront of therapeutic agents for treatment of human disease.”
