This review points out the many benefits of exercise from bodily health to aspects of brain function such as learning, memory, and mood disorders. It’s stated that “exercise reduces peripheral risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease, which converge to cause brain dysfunction and neurodegeneration,” and proposes that a common mechanism underlying the effects of exercise might be related to inflammation.
