EPCs (bone marrow-derived stem cells) mobilize to sites of arterial injury due to acceleration from estrodiol.

This study investigated bone marrow–derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) and their role in estrogen-induced acceleration of reendothelialization. They found that the mobilization of bone marrow–derived endothelial progenitor cells contributed to reendothelialization after arterial injury, thanks to the effects of estradiol’s acceleration of the EPCs.
