Childhood obesity, endothelial activation, and cardiovascular risk.

In a study of 30 obese and 28 healthy prepubertal children in Turkey, scientists have investigated the degree to which endothelial activation and inflammation  relate to cardiovascular risk factors. Their conclusion: “Endothelial inflammation is present in obese prepubertal children and is mainly associated with insulin resistance and lipid levels as well as BMI.”
